To Be Continued…

Last month I had my first interview since leaving Pequea.  The position I was interviewing for was to teach Bible at a small Christian School.  Yesterday I called them to inquire about the status of my interview.  Unfortunately, they said they are shutting down the school this year and (obviously) they are not hiring anyone.

I’ve been left feeling a mix of emotions…relief – I’d rather the school shut down before they hire me as opposed to losing my job halfway throughout the year.  Frustrated, because I continue to put out resume after resume and I can’t find a career (not a job – there are plenty of those – a career is what I’m looking for).  Now that we are in the month of August I often am reminded that it’s been almost a year since Katie and I moved to Baltimore.   I feel amazed though, because God has provided for us so graciously and so diligently over this past year.  I’m also blessed to have this time at home to work on projects around the house, study and most importantly to spend time with Maria, Justice and Katie.

Tonight Katie and I are going to dinner at Laruel and Dave’s house – they are a young couple we recently met through Harford Community Church.

Bill, Bev and Becky Kitchin Deploy to Honduras

This past weekend Bill and Bev Kitchin, along with their daughter Becky – deployed to Honduras on behalf of Bridge Connections.  For the next several days they will be scouting the city of Roatan, seeking to build a partnership with local grassroots orphan ministries.  Bill and Bev will be returning in January 2011 with a team of Transformational Travelers.  They also hope to return again in the summer of 2011.  Bill and Bev’s initiative is one of the three part mission of Bridge Connections, to have 3 established sites by 2013.  To join their mission, you can e-mail me at contact@nathankilgore.com.

Bringing Justice

Here he is…Justice.  We named him Justice for several reasons.  Perhaps the greatest reason is because his name “fits.”  This past year (I can’t believe it has almost been a year), Katie and I went through a difficult season.  Yup…we “went” through a difficult season.  I really believe and we sense that we are transitioning into a new season now.  Anyway – there are many words that we could use to describe the season…difficult…disappointing…lonely…painful…but – in the midst of all that we went through, God granted us Justice.  God has been so very faithful providing for us above and beyond this past year.  God also stood in for us, and when the truth was sought and humility put on,

justice was served.  Maria got her name because at the time we were in a season of ministry in Lancaster – a predominant Hispanic neighborhood.  We often think of our memories of doing ministry in Lancaster when we hear her name, and it brings us back to the booming Latin music and late night walks through the streets saying hello to everyone on their front-porches, block parties, and Impact.  As our journey continues, Justice will be a constant reminder of the blessing – the justice – that God has brought and continues to bring into our lives.  Thank you God, for being a just God.

His middle name is Adley.  We decided to give him this name after my cousin (and best friend) Adley Kilgore.  Adley and I went to Uganda together the other year (along with my brother Ryan and my friend Steve Quintiliani).  Adley has always felt more like a brother to me then a cousin, and if I could ever force someone to move in with me, it would be him.
